TUESDAY OCTOBER 18,2011

We hiked to Manning Park today and climbed Frosty.  The weather was a beautiful sunny 17C with a clear blue sky and no wind.  Seemed like a perfect hiking day for any spring, summer or fall.  We saw a couple of grouse on the trail but I didn't have my camera handy.  At the top, a 3 hour steady hike, we sat in the sun with the larches and whiskey jacks.  The larch trees are the only trees that thrive above 2000 meters and can live over 2000 years.  They are the beautiful yellow evergreens.

The whiskey jacks were overly friendly and were trying to take food right out of our hands, bags and mouths.  I took several photos of them eating out of my hand.

A perfect hike with spectacular views, but a long day.  Didn't get home until nearly 8:00 pm.
There are 4 lakes down there. They are called Lightning, Strike, Thunder and Flash
